When two people communicate, they each can be enriched - and unlike traditional resources, the more you share the more you have. - U.S. Vice President Al Gore

I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed. - Booker T. Washington

Martin Luther King, Jr. was the most famous 20th century American who strove for equality, justice, the end of poverty and civil rights for all through nonviolent means. Born on January 15, 1929, he deservedly received the Nobel Peace Prize in December of 1964. Reverend King's life was tragically ended by an assassin's bullet in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968 but the essence and hopes he spoke of in his famous "I have a dream" speech made in Washington, D.C. in 1963 lives on in many American's hearts. He is the U.S.'s equivalent of Russia's great Nobel Peace Prize winner, Andrei Sakharov . Although not his exact birthdate, we pay respect to him with this federal holiday on the 3rd Monday of every January. We honor Dr. King by holding his ideals close, both nationally and globally.

Although there many good sites about Dr. King on the Internet, we have chosen these few because we feel the quality of their content captures the true vision of Dr. King. Find out more about this fascinating man's life and work.
